A CHAPTER STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR ABUSED WOMEN
23. All forms of abuse, be they physical, psychological, sexual, socioeconomic, isolation or by any other type, are contrary to the gospel of compassion, mercy, and salvation. The Congregation of Josephites stands in compassionate solidarity with all women who suffer any such abuse especially physical, psychological or sexual abuse or rape. In particular we denounce such abuse on religious women and abhor the actions of consecrated persons, male or female, who refuse to admit their fault, who do not accept their responsibility for their actions and the consequences, and specifically if they have played and active part in the procuring of abortions. For our part any member of the Josephite Congregation who has been found guilty of such acts will be treated with the full force of canon and civil law.
